Oil painting on stretched box canvas, July 2023
A gorgeous pincushion bursting yellows in all directions. One can definitely feel my leanings to abstraction seeping into this painting. I tried not to overthink the process and exuberant movement of this perky yellow pincushion.
My process began with very bright colour washes and an abandonment of mark-making with a variety of water-soluble mixed media, then I developed it further with oils, budling up the layers and texture with sweeps of the palette knife and gestural marks from oil sticks.
Over the past few years I have had the great privilege
of collecting a few of Shaune’s artworks. Her pieces bring me immense pleasure
by daily bringing life and colour to the rooms they hang in.
Shaune is passionate about her gift which reflects in
her works and she passes that passion on to you, the customer. She will
painstakingly work on each piece until it is just right, never compromising on
the quality of her artwork. Her enthusiasm for life and her art is infectious
and her professionalism outstanding. The deep love she has for her subject is evident
from the minute you meet her. Shaune is continually experimenting with
different mediums, colours and subjects, constantly heading out into nature to
be inspired by her surroundings. She respects and adores her environment and
the country she so fondly paints of.
A few minutes in Shaune’s workspace is like food for
the soul and you leave knowing the world is a better place having Shaune in it.
